hello Calvin Jones Park Tool Company with tech Tuesday today we wanted to have a closer look at our braking systems so we've created a test contraption with lots of housing - brakes set the same on a rim to highlight the housing that's what you want to talk about here is a traditional piece of brake housing we cut away the plastic jacket and we have a spiral wound piece of steel with the plastic liner inside for our cable and this may be recognizable to some of you as a slinky so when we break we are getting pressure that does tend to compress we do get a little bit of that slinky effect but it can it can work and again very traditional this is a different housing this is a braided or woven brake housing and it is more sophisticated and also a bit more expensive here we've cut away the outer plastic and we can see the Kevlar weave that's placed around these wires this plastic sheath hel
