should woofers be isolated inside of a cabinet james in whitehall new york would like to know and he says hey paul i have a pair of floor standing five-way speakers with 12-inch woofers now you frequently speak about the back pressure caused by speakers and this has raised my curiosity does this back pressure interfere with the other speakers in a sealed box it seems to me that all of these pressures inside the box would be pushing on and fighting with the other speakers in the box is this a thing and if so how is it dealt with in a speaker design well that's actually a really good question and i think the answer is yes they have to be isolated so your typical box so here's a woofer oops that's a woofer and a magnet okay so as this is pushing forward then sound is is is you know if it goes back it pressurizes it depressurizes and this would be inside of a box so there's a god that's hea
