okay hi welcome back attorney Steve welcome to the Friday edition just a little quick legal update so I had a question the other day one of my clients came to me and was asking can I sue a company that is illegally tape recording my phone conversations and I said well that's a good question let me let me look that up for you and it turns out yes in fact you can and the we have laws and this is California law we're talking about but California is what we refer to as a two-party consent state so that means if I pick up the phone and I consent to be being tape recorded and somebody else's this call may be monitored blah blah blah so we're both consenting to the recording that's perfectly fine and legal and in fact you see a lot of people do that you see debt collectors are doing that when they're calling you they're like hey this call may be recorded are you ok with that loan servicers are
