Product review & video
Proper coiling technique is essential
when working with cables. Often, you'll see people trying to wrap the wrong way:
over, over, like this, or maybe sometimes around their arm. While these techniques
may help you get your cable coiled quickly, in the end, it's going to shorten
the life span of the cable, and make it harder the next time you use it by
creating tangles or knots. So I'd like to show you the standard method for coiling
a cable properly. It's called the over-under method. Begin by placing the
cable in your hand with a connector facing out. You're going to want to loop
your first coil as normal, just around your hand, and then hold it like this.
That's called the "over-loop." The under- loop is what gets most people. What I
like to do is grab the cable with my right hand, palm facing up, and as I
approach my left hand, I'm going to turn my hand so that my thumbs meet. Again
