This gamekeeper's thumb brace provides ultimate comfort and support while protecting the thumb against further injury. The brace helps to treat the condition called gamekeeper's thumb, also known as skier's thumb. This injury refers to the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) being torn or ruptured, leaving the thumb joint in pain. The UCL is located in the metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joint where the thumb meets the thumb. The thumb splint also helps to treat injuries such as thumb arthritis, tendonitis, deQuervain's syndrome, basal joint arthritis, UCL tear, or other general thumb related injuries such as a sprained or dislocated thumb. This brace only restricts the thumb and wrist, so it leaves the other fingers free for mobility. The wrap-around design of this treatment brace makes it easy to apply and adjust as needed. The adjustable straps allow one to customize the amount of compression that is applied to the thumb and wrist. It is constructed of a perforated neoprene material that is soft and comfortable against the skin. The neoprene material helps to provide compression and warmth to the injured area, promoting healing and reducing swelling and pain. One of the best features of this thumb spica brace is the interchangeable stays or splints in the brace. This brace includes flexible, rigid, and malleable stays that can be removed if desired. These different stays make the brace fully customizable to help provide support and comfort. The brace has three different compartments that can hold any one of the stays and is enclosed with Velcro to keep it in place. Using the flexible splint will provide moderate immobilization to the thumb, allowing the thumb to move slightly. The malleable aluminum splint is moldable so it can be reshaped to fit the shape of your hand. Lastly, the rigid aluminum splint provides extreme immobilization and support to the thumb and hand. This treatment splint is a universal design that fits either the left or right hand.
