this afternoon I'm gonna do a video on a question that I get pretty often from students which is why our East and West flipped on my Brent and what I mean by that is they they think about kind of the setup of a stereo net where North is on top and East is clockwise from North West's counterclockwise from north and then they look at the center of their Brunton and East is on the left and West is on the right so why is this foot and the answer this question really comes down to thinking about what the needle is doing in the language that we use to talk about the needle on the Brenin so if we're in the field and we ask students - were you ever asked to read off the orientation on your button some students will say my needle is pointing at you know north 40 east the truth is your needle is always pointing north it's your compass that's rotated so we have east and west flipped on a Breton be
