okay so I've got this little canon vixia hf r 600 camcorder here a nice little unit I mean obviously comes in very cheap I think we got it at Costco for you know a couple hundred dollars shoots HD and everything now I wanted to do some interviews and things like that so I wanted to use an external microphone with it right so well right here of course you've got your mic port there so of course the natural thing to do would be to you know grab your trusty rode shotgun mic plug it in and away you go well not so fast it doesn't work that way so what I had to do is find something that was powered right these that microphone is not powered it it has to pick up its power from the source so I had to get a powered one so I went on to Aliexpress found this I mice 3.5 millimeter video camera microphone I got it from the game fan trading company store so I checked it out it's a powered mic $11.83
