the Navy has changed you know drastically since I joined and I'll give you a couple examples one example is when I first joined the Navy in 92 well technically an 88 cuz I was a midshipman but but on active duty in 92 when I graduated and I went to Surface Warfare Officer school out in Coronado you know the threat then was still the Soviet Union so I remember at Surface Warfare Officers School in Coronado a lot of our curriculum was you know leadership and the systems on board ships obviously but I remember also distinctively studying the capabilities and limitations of our adversaries specifically the Soviet Union and you know when the wall broke down and you know so the Union turn into Russia and and there was a lot of change in the in the global arena if you will you know the overnight literally the United States Navy had sea control we had sea power we were the dominant force it was
