The CerAnode Expandable-Spring Powered Water Heater Anode is a 100% solution to preventing sulfide smells (that rotten egg smell) produced by well water.
Aggressive well water and the use of softeners contribute to the sacrificing of passive anodes (magnesium, aluminum, and aluminum/zinc) much quicker, generally requiring replacement every 2-5 years.
The new CerAnode ESA features a convenient "ONE SIZE FITS ALL" design that is easy to install. It is small, easy to handle and comes complete with a standard 3/4" NPT pipe plug feed-through connector and special rectifier.
The unit's smart controller monitors water and tank conditions and adjusts automatically for superior protection from smell and tank corrosion.
After removing what remains of the old sacrificial anode, the ESA "spring" is simply stretched out to the length of the water heater, lowered into the tank and the pipe plug screwed into place.
Installation Notes:
Most gas heaters will require the included 3" long nipple, and electric water heaters made after April 2015 will require the included 6" nipple, in order to clear the insulation and complete the install. In some cases where the hot water outlet port of the heater doubles as the anode port, the included brass tee is required to accommodate anode installation.
The power supply included is for 100 - 132 volt and requires less than 0.5 watts of power to operate.
