Changbai Mountains Wild Phellinus Pini (also known as Fomitopsis pinicola) belongs to wild fungus and medicinal fungi. It was produced in alpine region of Changbai Mountains wildlife preserve. The sporocarp of Phellinus Pini is perennial and suberin. Its hut is from flat to horseshoe (size: 4*14cm, 7*24cm, some may 23*40cm, thickness 2.5-18.5cm or thicker). In the early period, the surface of hut has reddish-brown colloid shell, then it keratinizes to grey to black. The wide edge will change from white to light to auburn. There is no hymenium under the edge. Fruit of fungus is from white to fawn, suberin to wood with ring pattern. It is 0.5-2cm thick and bitter. Fungus pipe is multiply and every storey's thickness is about 3-5cm and wax yellow. Pipe orifice is white to milky white. Spores eggs are round or oval, and colorless. It grows on trunks or deadwoods of pines, spruces, firs, hemlocks and larches, and other conifers.
