see scallops are a succulent treat provided by the deep beautiful ocean oceans fleet fisheries strives to bring you the very best in a certified sustainable industry our boats use dredges as seen here all year long in the deep sea to harvest these delicious scallops the part of the scalp that we consume is called the adductor muscle the scallop shell is hand shucked by diligent fishermen remove the muscle from the shell these farmers of the sea must work in a fast pace to bring in thousands of pounds per trip the scallops get packed into special bags and are stored on ice the journey back to home court sometimes can take up to a day or two once back in port the delicious fresh scallops are unloaded off the boats and accurately weighed just in time to be brought back to our state-of-the-art facility located just minutes away here in our New Bedford mass facility scallops are hand grated
