hey everyone welcome back to do-it-yourself Telecom I'm Steve in this video we're gonna talk about splicing phone wires together and why it's important to do it with the right type of connectors and the problem you can get into if you just try to take the shortcut I see a lot of alright so the right way to take say for instance this phone the set of phone wires here and to splice it on to another set of phone wires is to use these little gizmos here these are little splicer connectors these right here are referred to as red heads the more formal name I think is 3m connectors or Scotch locks what it is it's just a plastic piece with some silicon gel inside of it it's got three slots on the inside that they were entered from the bottom and then this red cap actually smashes down onto the the wires inside to make the connection and then that gel keeps them from oxidizing keeps keeps them p
