Description
Medical Doctor Gawie and his wife (Registered Nurse) Hannelie Roux dedicated their lives to help others and to enhance the lives of those living with a disability or ailment. It was this passion and the desire to find solutions for people with nutrition and swallowing difficulties that lead to the development of the RoseCup. Ultimate Volume Control, due to the controlled amount of liquid released through the openings. When one of the spouts are connected, it provides an effective and safe way to consume thickened fluids and reduces the risk of choking and aspiration of fluids or food into the lungs. The spouts hold 3ml of thickened fluid. Due to sucking on the spout, the bulb is compressed and the base blocked by the tip of the tongue. This allows only the content of the bulb onto the tongue. The valve closes after the suck-cycle (restores to "hole-only" state) and no further liquid should escape from the device. The controlled delivery limits the volume of liquid per suck-cycle to 3ml. The next 3ml will then be released following the pause and another suck, before more liquid is released. Dysphagia is associated with a wide range of medical conditions and is a result of damage to the nerves and muscles used for swallowing. If untreated, the result may be one of the following: Choking. Aspiration of fluid or food into the lungs (can result in pneumonia). Dehydration and associated conditions. Malnutrition. Low immunity due to poor nutrition and hydration. Depression and anxiety. If you are looking for an adaptive drinking cup perfect in the use for persons with dysphagia, then look no further.
