hello i'm scott flowers with cloud ninjas and today we're here to talk about hp proliant dl 380p gen8 memory upgrades and how to load the system i wanted to start off by noting that this video is specifically for the dl380p gen8 some people might have the dl380egen8 which is slightly different the ram that it takes is the same except for that it's going to have less slots so we'll let's go ahead and get started this machine has two cpu sockets it takes intel e5 2600 v1 and v2 series cpus which is an lga 2011 socket there's 24 dimm slots which improves from the old gen the dlc 380 gen 7 from 18 up to 24. this also takes ddr3 memory but one of the differences is that not only does it take ecc registered which is known as our dim it also takes load reduced memory known as lrdem which is the improvement from the g7 to the g8 with the r dimms because there are 24 memory slots it the max is a
