hi there this is Jeff from Jeff cool Balcom today I'm going to be doing a review of the zoom h1 and I'm going to compare it to the other unit that I bought earlier the sony IC d sx 712 so if you followed my earlier review this is the sony ICDs x7 12 it's a wonderful unit as i said before it has uncompressed WAV format it can record in 44 point 1 kilohertz at 16-bit wave uncompressed so this is a real a real step forward from those units that only can record in mp3 the build quality on the SX 712 the Sony is very good it feels really solid in the hand all the buttons have a nice give to them it's well designed the controls are easy to use it has a microphone that you can split out like that to for a different pattern so if you're recording a large room you can do that or if you're recording a speaker at the far end of the room you can do that or for live music it's better to have a separ
