[Music] welcome to fixitforget.com where projects and ideas come together [Music] hi this is john from fixitforget.com my wife likes to have a fan on her nightstand for a little air circulation and for a bit of white noise the problem we've encountered with typical fans like this one these have sleeve bearings in them and what will happen is the little motor shaft goes into basically a metal tube and it's oiled well the oil dries out then the fan starts to seize up and you have to tear it all apart because most of these fans these days don't have oil ports for the bearings you have to pull it all apart oil the bearings put it back together i've done that probably six or eight times with this fan over the years when it's running it works pretty well but and i'm not picking on this manufacturer almost all of them are like that these days and so i wanted to find a fan with ball bearings an
