yes you should get rid of your sleeping bag completely toss in the trash or sell it whatever you do make the changeover to backpacking quilts now there are four big reasons why I think backpacking quotes are kind of the go-to nowadays for a lot of backpackers number one is weight if you know how sleeping bags work it kind of nestled in this envelope if you will warmth and it surrounds you but one area of the insulation that you're not using is the insulation that's directly underneath you sure it may feel cool or you know to be kind of nice and cozy in my case a little claustrophobic but that insulation that down under you is not doing anything how down works and this insulation works is it traps kind of pockets of air and if you're crushing that it has no real insulative properties quilts if you think about it this way kind of cut out that back section and allows you to kind of tuck in
