in this video we're gonna go over the LR circuit so let's work on this problem a 12-volt battery is in series with a 10 ohm resistor an open switch and a 200 milli Henry inductor so let's draw a circuit so here's the battery and then here is the open switch with the resistor and the inductor now what we have is a 12 volt battery and this is a 10 ohm resistor and the 200 milli Henry inductor what is the current flowing in the circuit after the switch has been closed for a long time so at T is equal infinity the current is going to be at a maximum once we close a switch and so that maximum current is simply the voltage of the battery divided by the resistance of the circuit so it's going to be 12 volts divided by 10 ohms which is 1.2 m/s so the maximum current which we're going to call a zero that's 1.2 amps and so that's the answer for Part A Part B what is the value of the time constant
