hi I'm Andrew Coles and welcome to audio trends video review today we're going to talk to you about banana plugs what are banana plugs and why do we use them we've got a couple of different types of banana plugs here normally to fit a piece of cable speaker wire to the back of your amplifier or speaker you just strip the cable and put the bare twist all the strands together and put the bare cable in underneath the binding post the trouble with this is that often strands can get broken off and also stray strands can often cause a short circuit so by fitting a banana plug we get a good firm connection of the speaker cable into the back of the amp or the speaker now all I'll show you how to fit a couple of different types of banana plugs we'll start with the screw on one which you won't need a soldering iron for okay this banana plug here is from a company called Pro AV they retail for aro
