In large data centers with hundreds and thousands of machines we need Unit Identification LEDs to help us find a specific physical server. But in the case of HPE Poliant servers of generations 9 and 10 these are not simple LEDs. They are buttons with some hidden functions. When you press the UID button, you can reset the iLO or get some diagnostics data. Press the UID for more than 5 seconds and you will force the iLO to reboot. That would not affect the productivity of the server. If you press the button for over 10 seconds you will get the so called hard reboot of the iLO. It will lose some of its settings and will request a new IP address via DHCP.
