it's new gear day and we're going to open up this box i'm going to set this over here you'll notice i have a soldering iron right here it's not plugged in it the cables wound up i'm not going to be using that today we're going to go completely solderless now i think that is the way to go when it comes to studio applications honestly if you are somebody working on a record and you're trying out different pickups and guitar configurations you want to do it quickly well breaking out the soldering iron is a little bit slower than just unplugging it and plugging it back in somewhere else the other thing is even though i i know my way around a soldering iron i can solder and i have done it successfully many times it's not ideal that's because i've got special needs children here at the house i've got twins they're adults now i should stop saying children they're 22. but they're special needs
