hands-on with startx USB 3.1 gen2 SATA adapter so this super handy adapter from star tech includes a SATA connection on one end and a USB type-c connection with USB 3.1 gen2 capable of up to 10 gigabits per second on the other end now that sounds nice but you have to keep in mind that SATA 3 connections max out at 6 gigabits per second and really they only have a maximum transfer rate of about 600 megabytes per second or about 4.8 gigabits per second so really when you think about it USB 3.1 Jinwoon or USB 3.0 is really enough in order to saturate this interface so if you purchase the cheaper USB 3.0 version which is capable of up to five gigabits per second you shouldn't see much of a difference if at all I wish I would have bought the cheaper version just to test it out but I didn't but anyway both of these adapters include USB 3.1 gen2 connections the only difference between the two
