hello class welcome to pre-algebra lesson 5 3 which is all about inequalities by the end of this lesson you should be able to write inequalities and graph inequalities on a number line so let's quickly remember what an inequality is our inequalities are these symbols where you learned about them over the last few years you've talked about them actually we'll just go like this there are four different ones that you have learned about our first one when it opens to the left like this this is pronounced greater than when it points to the left it is pronounced less than when it has the line underneath it is called greater than for this one so it's the same as that first one because they both open towards the left but then you when you have the line you also say or equal to then the last one would be less than or equal to okay so that's how you would verbally say those out loud if you don't
