this is the gy hm 170 camcorder from JVC professional it's also available as the gy HM 200 in which case you also get an XLR audio handle SDI out and live streaming otherwise the two models are the same the camcorder is quite small although it's quite wide just about grabbable with one hand but it's made out of quite a lightweight feeling plastic so you'll definitely want to take care of it whilst out filming at the front there's a 12 x optical zoom lens rated at F 1.2 but we'll come back to that in a moment one instant annoyance is the detachable lens cap which is not only easy to lose but also has a design which makes it spring out of your hand as you grab it unusually to lens control rings are provided along with a smaller dial on the side while the front ring is always focus the second can be switched between zoom and iris if you do use it for zoom the little dial can do RS instead
