The VCR's ShowGuard backup memory keeps your timer/programming safe, even through power outages. If the power fails, timer recordings will be restored when the clock is reset. (The timer recording will not occur if it was scheduled to take place during the power failure.)

Meanwhile, auto clock set with time-zone adjustment sets itself to the correct time from a user-approved channel carrying a time signal. Daylight-savings time adjustment automatically compensates for daylight savings time in early April and late October, so you don't have to reset the clock twice a year.

When tape playback begins, auto tracking seeks the optimum video and audio tracking positions for the clearest picture and sound. With automatic channel setup, the VCR tuner scans through television frequencies, automatically storing active broadcast channels into memory. Then, only channels programmed into memory are tuned using the channel up/down buttons on either the remote or front panel. Automatic channel preset can be repeated whenever desired, and you can always add or delete channels manually.

Other features include closed-captioning, bilingual (English/Spanish) onscreen display, a sleep/wake timer, a monaural earphone jack for private listening, repeat play, quasi-S-VHS performance (lets you play S-VHS tapes at standard VHS resolution), and forward/reverse search.
