howdy is tubal-cain again and today's video is about machine screw sizes which you see here now in the last video I talked about how to identify threads but today I want to talk about these machine screw sizes which are strictly numbers not fractional because many people do not understand that even though it's just commonly used in the United States I don't know about other parts of the country but when you see a box of screws it's a 632 or 1024 or an 832 what does that mean well the second number is the pitch the number of threads from per inch but the first number such as 6 8 and 10 are the diameters but the diameters translate into decimals not fractions there is only one actually 2 on the whole group here that are translate into fractions are number 5 in fact is 1/8 1/8 a number 10 is a 3/16 all the others are in between there are many many nice charts available explaining this or g
