The Motorola DS9808-SR handheld omnidirectional LED barcode reader is black, has a hybrid design, and can be used to scan and decode linear one-dimensional (1D), two-dimensional (2D), and Portable Document Format 417 (PDF417) barcodes. The barcode reader's hybrid design includes a base that allows it to be held in the hand or placed on a counter or surface for fixed-position use. A laser produces lines of light in an omnidirectional pattern to scan barcodes on labels or cell phone screens at different angles from up to 10.5" away and at a scanning speed of up to 100" per second. An LED indicator turns red to alert the user of a decoding error. A beeper makes the barcode reader suitable for loud work environments. A cable (sold separately) and on-board interfaces can be used to connect the barcode reader to a computer or host system. The barcode reader has a rubber handle for grip. Motorola Remote Scanner Management software (available separately for download) can be used by an administrator to manage the device remotely.
