welcome to the service clinic at Lowcountry harley-davidson I'm doc Harley got an email from John on a continuing question on changing handlebars and we have covered the changing the clutch and the brake lines to make sure that they fit the new handlebars and we've talked about the wires and how they have to be at the proper length but John brought up the question what about the throttle good question John in the past we used to have cables that came out and went to the carburetor and we just measure how long they were in order 3 inch 6 inch longer depending on what handlebars I put on but the throttle on a modern motorcycle with fuel injection is a whole lot different because we're dealing with wires so let me show you the inside story on the throttle and how it works and where it's attached to all right I brought out these handlebars because it's a lot easier because here to get these
