today i'm going to show you how i do the butler method for this you're going to need your two exterior pieces your two lining pieces your zipper i like to add a little cork tab to the end and hemostats and either this is just under a quarter inch wide double sided tape or eighth of an inch score tape you can get this one on amazon and this one is from tandy leather i'll show you how we prepare the fabric for this it's really simple and how long the zipper will have to be what you want to do is on the front piece of whatever the exterior fabric is you're going to put your tape on it so that it extends all the way to the side as long as you're using a zip that has a tab on the end and you're not going to put any tape on this end where it's three quarters of an inch because this is where the open end of the butler method will be then on the back side so i don't screw these up if i do when
