hello again YouTube so if you got this problem with your tailgate just won't stay up you got to lift it up and it whacks you on the head well your problems going to be with these lift struts that hold the tailgate up this is the problem we're having with this Toyota Highlander this is a very common problem on lots of cars in fact here on my Volkswagen I've got lift struts on my trunk lid or for our friends in the UK the boot fact on some cars especially really really nice ones they'll have the lift struts holding up the hood but not on this one this is a tailgate that you lift manually and they'll get so weak they'll just fall down on your head on other cars like a Lexus perhaps they have an electric tailgate where you hit a button and it'll go up and down and you'll find that it'll struggle to go up or it won't be able to go up if the struts are worn out typically you remove these stru
