Description
Get ready for some high-power observation and imaging with our new CC6 6" Classical Cassegrain! The Classical Cassegrain design hasn't gotten much play among amateur astronomers because they haven't been available except in very large sizes at very high prices. But all that is about to change. Our 6" f/12 Classical Cassegrain excels for high-resolution lunar and planetary viewing and imaging, and will get you in close on tight objects such as globular clusters and planetary nebulas. It's a compelling new offering for those wanting serious magnifying capability but in a compact form factor. With an optional 10mm eyepiece you're already probing at 183x magnification! The Classical Cassegrain optical design utilizes a parabolic primary mirror and a hyperbolic secondary mirror, which for the CC6 allow a long, "folded" focal length of 1836mm in a tube just 20.5" long and weighing 12 lbs. That means the CC6 is easily supported on a modest-size mount such as the Orion Sirius EQ-G. Both mirrors are made from thermally stable quartz, with enhanced aluminum coating delivering 96% reflectivity. The 6" primary mirror is fixed in place so you won't get image shift or mirror flop like you do from a typical Schmidt-Cassegrain or Maksutov. Focusing is done with a precision 2" dual-speed (10:1) Crayford focuser. Moreover, the CC6 has no glass on the front end to dew up. It's an open tube with eight baffle rings inside to control stray light and ensure maximum contrast. Sold as optical tube assembly only, the Orion CC6 comes with TWO dovetail finder scope bases, a V-style dovetail mounting bar, and three extension rings to allow focus with different visual or imaging combos. Backfocus from the end of the 2" accessory collar is 157.2mm. If the idea of a long focal length telescope for high-power visual pursuits or for lunar or planetary photography sounds like fun, get your hands on the Orion CC6 6" Classical Cassegrain telescope today!

Product review & video
hi I'm Ken with Orion telescopes and binoculars and this is the Orion 6-inch f12 classical Cassegrain a little bit different than your average Schmitt Catherine and I will show you why we'll go through some of the features and show you why I think this is a nice advantage over some of those other designs and what the benefits are alright well first of all are the optics themselves six-inch f12 is a little bit longer than your average six inch f10 Casa Grande armée Casa Grande this has an 1836 millimeter focal length so nice high magnification good for lunar and planetary viewing and imaging and if you're gonna be imaging some of the deep sky objects it is f12 so it's all but slower than a standard f10 but with the newer CCD camera CMOS cameras that are very sensitive and you stick to some of the brighter more compact targets like globular clusters planetary nebula those things actually
