The PTM Wrist / Thumb Wrap was designed to aid post-treatment processes by providing support and therapeutic heat in events of mild wrist conditions.
The support of the thumb helps reduce the sheath tendon swelling. The product can be properly adjusted to the patient's wrist through the fasteners and is suitable for both hands.
This wrap covers from the front part of the wrist joint to the middle part of the metacarpal bone, thus securing the product and preventing it from moving. Furthermore, it generates contention pressure on the thumb, facilitating the healing.
It can be regulated to the need of the treatment adjusting both sides of the wrist support -which apply proportional pressure to the level of stretch- and then fastening the straps. By stabilizing the radiocarpal joint, relief of sprains, swelling, sprains and further wrist conditions are accomplished.
The wrist support applies multidirectional pressure, keeping the joint in a neutral position. For decades, neoprene or polychloroprene has been one of the most world-widely used elastic synthetic materials. Its inherent features, such as high elasticity, thermal insulation, resistance, and durability, industrial applications, and, of course, orthopedics.
This material provides multidirectional compression and contention, reducing joint and muscle stress. It works as a thermal insulator by keeping body heat, thus preventing an increase of the blood flow and accelerating the recovery and regeneration process. The neoprene used by PTM is coated with 100% polyamide jersey on its external side and with 100% polyamide plush on its internal side.
