in october of 1993 constable rick sonenberg was laying a spike belt at deerfoot trail in southland drive and he was struck by a stolen vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and was killed instantly and because of his loss the community his family and the corporate community in calgary came together and purchased our very first hawks helicopter which we had our very first flight july 18 1995. it's been 25 years and at the time the work that they did was incredible because we were the first law enforcement agency in canada to have a police helicopter and it's always been such a sense of pride for the city and for the calgary police service that we were the first and have set a standard and to this day we are currently leaders in the law enforcement aviation industry i'm really excited to introduce our brand new as350 b3e or commonly known as the airbus h-125 helicopter to our hawks fl
