hey folks it's Adirondack Jim from Adirondack Jim's carved signs so today I wanted to just show you the tools that I use most commonly to carve signs i carve in two styles one of them is engraved and the other one is relief so I use different routers for different things these are my main workhorses this is the DeWalt six one eight series two and a quarter horsepower it's got soft start variable speed great ergonomics especially if you have small hands it's got a really low center of gravity I have a custom cast acrylic base plate which makes a big difference in stabilizing your router I use this for engraving the bearings don't really last too long and if you've ever had to have your router fixed it's cheaper to just buy another router so it's something to keep in mind but it is great as long as you're not kicking a lot of sawdust up into the bearings I don't believe that they're seale
