You can use them for concerts, studying, and more. They conform to the shape of your ears and you can remold them. The level of noise entering a person’s ear when a hearing protector is worn as directed is closely approximated by the difference between both the weighted environmental noise level and the noise reduction rating (NRR). The NRR is 29 decibels (dB) when used as directed. The range of noise reduction ratings for existing hearing protectors is approximately 0 to 30. High numbers denote greater effectiveness. How to properly fit into the ear: 1) Roll into small cylinder. 2) Use 2nd hand to pull back on ear. Insert plug into ear. 3) Hold plug until it expands. CAUTION: For noise environments dominated by frequencies below 500 Hz, the c-weighted environmental noise level should be used. Failure to fit the hearing protector according to the instructions will reduce its effectiveness. Although hearing protectors can be recommended for protection against the harmful effects of impulsive noise, the NRR is based on the attenuation of continuous noise and may not be an accurate indicator of the protection attainable against impulsive noise such as gunfire.
