You can even record yourself by rotating the view screen 180 degrees. The VL-A131U also features several digital effects (black and white, sepia, NEG) that can be viewed without affecting the original recording.

Sharp's advanced circuitry allows recording down to less than 1 lux (the light of one candle about one yard away from the subject) and eliminates complex lighting arrangements and harsh floodlight glare. The backlight compensation feature also adjusts only the dark parts of a shot to optimal brightness levels, and leaves the bright sections untouched, so they don't become glaringly washed out.
