in just 12 days people across North America will be taking time to witness a rare eclipse of the Sun the moon is moving directly in front of the Sun so then the moon casts a shadow on the earth this is the first time in about 100 years that a total eclipse of the Sun will cross the country coast-to-coast how much of that you see will depend upon where you are on August 21st 2017 the min eclipse is transfer traveling over Oregon and Idaho so we're only going to see about 75% of that so the moon is never going to completely cover the Sun here in Dixie but if you're wanting to view the Eclipse NASA is warning that you do so by using special glasses so as not to damage your eyesight so NASA put out a little video explaining why we wear these glasses because obviously if you look at the Sun it's going to damage your eyes and these glasses are so dark that when you look at the Sun that's all
