in this video I'm going to show you how to evaluate a definite integral on either the ti-83 or ti-84 graphing calculator suppose we want to evaluate this basic integral the integral from zero to 3 of negative one-third x + 1 with respect to X I chose this integral simply because it's an easy one to verify using area what you'll want to do to evaluate this in the calculator is go to the math menu and go all the way down until you find F and int function innovate I'm going to choose that and we're going to type in our function negative 1/3 X plus 1 we're going to integrate this with respect to X so we're going to put comma X and then comma the limits 0 to 3 and the calculator tells us that the result is 1.5 or three-halves to verify this result we we can simply just plot the function on a set of axes note that it's simply a linear function with the y-intercept of 1 and an x-intercept of 3
