in today's video we're going to be opening up a thermal fuse now the thermal fuse you see right here is rated at 139 degrees Celsius which is around two hundred and eighty-three degrees Fahrenheit this particular fuse is rated ten amps up to 250 volts as the fuse is right now you have continuity between this lead and that lead when the temperature rises above 283 degrees Fahrenheit they will no longer be continuity across the fuse turning off power to the circuit this type of axial thermal fuse is commonly used in coffee makers toasters heat guns hair dryers as well as transformer cores what they do is they take the thermal fuse they place it right against the winding and it's wrapped in the event the winding becomes too hot what will happen the thermal fuse opens up the circuit and you no longer have current flowing into that winding preventing a fire let me give you a close-up shot of
