today I will show you one way to record video from an HDMI source this method includes ps4 Xbox one Wii U and Xbox 360 it will not include how to record ps3 PlayStation TV or Lea those three are complicated due to encryption and I'll cover it in a different video this is what a HDMI cord looks like I won't be discussing how to record from any other type of cord I will be using Elgato Game Capture HD first power up your game system and TV as if you were about to start a game disconnect the HDMI cord from the back of your system and plug it into the HDMI out port on the elgato then take a second HDMI cord and plug one end into the HDMI end port onto Elgato and plug the other end into the back of the game system power up a computer near your setup I'm using a laptop but a desktop also works next grab this cord which should have come with your Elgato if you don't have it order it from Amazo
