so I'm going to be testing the zoom f1 SP for the best audio settings today and I'm going to start by working with the gain settings now we're on level three and the microphone is about twelve inches from my mouth which in an ideal world you would have this setup of the boom mic and you'd have it just over my head just out of frame at about a height of 12 inches above my mouth if you could achieve that all right now we're on a gain of four and what we're trying to achieve here is re really want the maximum volume peaking out at about negative 12 decibels that gives us a little Headroom if we get some peaking audio or some higher levels of noise or audio coming through or if I get really excited and start screaming now we've got the gain set at five and five seems to be five or six seems to be what the consensus is with most people on the internet they seem to think level five or level s
