hi this is Jim with cable supply.com and today we're going to talk about how to wire an rj11 jack so first let's talk about what in the world is an rj11 jack well it's actually called a six position six conductor jack and the reason it's called six position and six conductor is if they look in here they have little conductors in there those little gold-plated wires and air that are on a spring and everything else there's six of them and you can put in a mod plug like this that would just go right in there snapped in and it's a certain width and it only goes up to six wires now if it's an rj11 rj it stands for registered jack and it stands for the way something is wired back here so if it's an rj11 it's only dealing with the two Center pins if it's an RJ 14 which I don't think anybody uses anymore but just to let you know it's the two next pins and it's put in like this so this is an rj1
