in most cases periodically cleaning scansnap will provide reliable performance however scansnap consumables are designed to be easy to replace in the event they wear out from normal use this video will explain how to remove and replace both consumables for the skansen FS 500 and s 510 first close the scansnap remove power and follow all safety instructions outlined in the operator's guide next open the automatic document feeder and remove the pad assembly by pinching the tab to the top and lifting up and out to insert a new pad assembly take note of the two grooves on either side of the consumable insert the pad assembly inward so that the grooves aligned with the tabs on the ADF and press downward this completes replacement of the pad assembly now place the sheet guides at the v5 paper size position pinch the tabs on the left and right hand side of the pick roller cover and lift it out
