hi my name is chrissy o'malley and this is better science teaching one thing i've noticed over the last couple of weeks is that when i'm trying to speak with someone who's wearing a mask or a shield or face shield sometimes i have trouble hearing what they're saying or understanding what they're saying and i think that's because either there's a little bit of volume that's lost or people aren't projecting as much as we used to or um i'm not getting any visual cues from watching somebody's lips move and so i've i've been thinking carefully about okay if i want to maximize the space my classroom and have kids sit further away from me than usual then what am i going to do to make it so that i'm sure that they can hear me well so that i don't repeat myself so i don't have to shout because if what we're trying to do is sort of reduce the amount that we're projecting aerosols out of our mouth
