hi I'm Stuart kb1 HQs and today I'm doing a review on the arrow antenna system for two meters and 440 so like most hams I started out making my own backpacking yagi antennas for two meters first one I made was a tape measure antenna which worked really well the materials are cheap anybody has a ruler and some PVC kicking around add some coax and you have a really really sweet antenna problem with it is though is it's not easy to break down for a backpack the steel ruler that you use for the elements are really sharp and I just they don't roll up well due to the nature of the springiness of a steel it is cheap though and it works well so I said it's a good beginners at tena I moved on to a piano wire type antenna I had some acrylic tubing I used that with some very thin wire and with that I was able to make the elements and the whole thing just fit my backpack problem is it was too long
