Description
Histamine Intolerance (HI) is more common than you may think. I can't tell you how often I speak with patients and discover that the source of many of their health challenges turns out to be histamine intolerance. After lab testing rules out autoimmunity, and other larger issues, I often find that the mysterious source of my patient's neuropathy, headaches, sinus issues, and more, all boils down to this sometimes difficult to detect issue. The foods you eat may be aggravating your symptoms. If you find that certain foods seem to be triggering headaches, dizziness, flushing in the face, neuropathy, sinus issues and more, than histamine intolerance may be the culprit. Foods and beverages such as red wine, avocados, green and black tea, most citrus, and meats that are not very fresh such as aged steaks, hamburger that was ground several days ago, or fish that isn't freshly caught can all be either high in histamine itself, or histamine liberating, i.e. they free histamine from other proteins. They may also block the activity of DAO, the enzyme which is responsible for breaking down histamine in the gut. Histazyme works like a charm. If you've been told that you have an intolerance to dietary histamine, or have discovered that fact out for yourself, following a low histamine diet can assist you in managing uncomfortable symptoms. However, it is sometimes not possible to eat low histamine, especially when dining out at a restaurant, at a friends house, or when travelling or on vacation. Taking histazyme up to 15 minutes before a meal can help break down ingested dietary histamine, thereby eliminating the histamine buildup and immune response and uncomfortable symptoms associated with it.
