hi guys so today's video is about this IBM sass to expander in front of you here this is IBM part or FRU part 46 M 0 9 9 7 now in another video I showed you guys how to update the firmware on this half expander because without that firmware update there's some bugs associated with this card making it not work very well now I wanted to talk today a little bit about what this card actually does I've gotten a few questions about it and I wanted to kind of go over what you can use this for so this is a called a sass expander and in particular this supports the sass 2 protocol so that's 6 gigabit per second and as you can see here it's got 2 ports these SFF 8087 ports labeled input 1 and input 2 and it's got 4 SFF 8087 ports that are labeled BP for backplane one two three and four and so these were originally installed in IBM servers and the way it was used in the IBM server was that a raid
