Sparkfun (PID SEN-13162) ZX Distance and Gesture Sensor

the ZX gesture sensor is kind of magic it uses a pair of infrared emitters and an infrared detector to detect both distance and simple hand gestures making it really simple to make intuitive touchless interfaces now we've carried a version of the ZX sensor for a while now but we've updated it to use all surface mount components which eliminates the need for those big brass tubes that were on the old version and makes it easier to fit into smaller projects because it's very low profile the ZX gesture sensor has both you are and I squared C outputs and it reports the position of your hand within a certain window so if you can imagine the z axis going this way about 12 inches and the x axis going this way about 6 inches it basically spits out two numbers that correspond to your hands position in this window it'll also fire off an event whenever you do either a left swipe a right swipe or w
