Product review & video
They became renowned with their 8000A integrated amp in the eighties and made their point with the M-DAC in 2011. And now there is the M-DAC+… Audiolab belongs to the eighties wave of British audio manufacturers, following up on Quad in the fourties, B&W, Cambridge Audio and KEF in the sixties and for instance Cyrus, Mission and NAD in the seventies. These are some of the big names that survived time and most changed hands over time. Audiolab today is owned by the International Audio Group (IAG) that also owns Castle Acoustics, Luxman, Mission, Quad and Wharfedale. IAG is the third owner, the second owner started using the name TAG McLaren Audio but when IAG acquired the company, the Audiolab brand was restored. Although the M-DAC+ name has the acronym DAC in it, it is in fact a digital pre-amp that contains a DAC, a d/a-converter. The unit has an unusual shape, measuring 247 mm wide
