so what I've got here on the bench then is one of these little TV tuners that you can use for software-defined radio now this has been around for quite some time now and you know I've read quite a bit on this and it has sparked my interest somewhat and you know many of you all know that I'm not a ham radio enthusiast book this is the RTL 283 to you and as I say this is quite an old TV dongle now you can get to much better ones but I'd pick this one up for six pounds fifty and free shipping from China and yeah had this you know just for a day and I've tried it out I've downloaded the software the software defined radio software and another little play but I haven't had much look because it comes with this little antenna here I think it's a ya monopole and I don't think this is good for picking up a TV never mind software-defined radio it really struggled to work pick up my local radio st
